This cake is one of my favorites. It is also gluten and soy free! The peacock was a Christmas ornament and because it's such a beautifully flamboyant piece the cake itself was kept to a minimum.
This simple and elegant cake was a collaboration between myself and the florist. The orchids are real and were gorgeous on this cake, with it's shimmery ribbon and pearl decorations.
While big, smooth and modern is all that and then some I often prefer a large, creamy, no frills cake.. This year my hubby and his nephew/godson celebrated their September bdays together. Funfetti and 2 candles for Joey, 28 for Matt!
On the same night as my mother-in-law's wedding another cake of mine partied only 2 doors down at a surprise 50th bday party! That was one crazy busy cake week!
My hubby and I made this cake as a surprise for my step-father-in-law, it is modelled after his hot rod, as a grooms cake. He was pleasantly surprised and it was great fun!
For my husband's cousin's wedding I made a 3 layer cake, 16 matching sheet cakes and 40 Cupcakes! It turned out to be a 102 Degree day, the venue's kitchen was the size of a half bathroom, had no A/C and the caterers had to also cook in it. But by the grace of wedding magic, the cake held up and it was a great late afternoon wedding.
This was a simple wedding cake I made for a friend over the summer. It was my first, it went off without a hitch and it was wonderful to have someone trust me with such a big part of their day. It was also GLUTEN - FREE! The bride has Celiac's Disease.
When a friend's baby girl turned one she requested a Tinkerbell cake... in the "Tinkerbell Green". I covered the cake with marshmallow fondant so the kids may actually enjoy it also. In the back is the traditional "smash cake", covered in buttercream...
This year it was fun to take a whole year's experience and do another basket cake for our family Easter celebration... I loved the colors on this cake. I'm thinking I'll keep up the tradition in years to come.
This anniversary cake employs the same "brush embroidery" technique as the Mother's Day cake (2009). The slight sparkle comes from an edible silver dust that was brushed on. It was maroon and ivory to match the party colors.
Pooh was the party theme for another one year old buddy of mine.. The characters are the birthday boy's actual toys, the picnic blanket, "cake", presents and flowers are all fondant.
